I am so fortunate to have the opportunity to work closely with the IE department at Purdue. In December I was able to photograph the GE announcement. Then updated faculty and staff photos in March :). So when they asked me to document this event I was so excited. Grissom hall as many of you know is a very old buildings named after astronaut Virgil ‘Gus’ Grissom who died in Apollo 1 fire in 1967. This building was very old and outdated. They completely gutted it and reinvented it, now with its gorgeous open floor plan lots of natural light and great areas for team work. The design team said they were inspired by Googles offices and they did an amazing job! The Current IE students took all the visiting IE alum around for a tour and they all tried to find their old offices/ classrooms that proved to be -very- difficult. There was about 250 guests that attended the dedication ceremony Abhi Deshmukh-James J. Solberg Head and Professor of Industrial Engineering spoke followed by Dean Leah Jamieson then the Ltd. Governor Sue Ellesperman then finally the President Mitch Daniels.
Enjoy!
Then Saturday before the Purdue football game IE had an awesome tailgate celebration complete with pulled pork BBQ from Crabby Mikes (soo yummy) http://www.crabbymikesbbq.com, lawn games *and* live music!
The life size Jenga was a HUGE hit Thanks to http://www.midwestrentalsinc.com.
Thank you to Abhi, Leza and Erin for having me again. I love your department and everyone in it! I always look forward to working with you. 🙂
